Carbon Clean launches carbon capture R&D centre in India
Carbon Capture solutions company Carbon Clean has opened a new research facility, comprising two carbon capture plants and laboratories for solvent development, analysis, and testing, in Navi Mumbai, India.
The Global Innovation Centre – or GIC for short – hopes to house research that will support the development and deployment of next-generation carbon capture technologies.
Specifically, it will help scale Carbon Clean’s CycloneCC technology, which uses a special liquid solvent, APBS-CDRMax, to capture CO2 emissions from industrial processes.
Aniruddha Sharma, Chair and CEO of Carbon Clean, said that the company’s investment in innovation and R&D is central to its growth strategy.
“As a UK-headquartered company founded in India, this investment underscores the economic and industrial opportunities CCUS offers both countries. It also reflects our global commitment to tackling the complex challenge of industrial decarbonisation at scale,” he added.
The site is believed to be one of the world’s largest facilities of its kind, spanning around 77,000 sq ft with more than 100 employees.
